Securing a Property After a Fire

4/2/2021 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Crowley & South Johnson County, realizes having a fire in your home can be a  traumatic and stressful event. After the fire trucks leave, it is imperative to act immediately to secure the property and prevent secondary damage. Follow the tips below to secure your property and start the restoration process.

  1. Board up any holes left by the fire. It will help to prevent further losses due to weather or other causes.
  2. Remove all contents not damaged by the fire. The longer you delay, the more damage will be caused by soot and smoke.  Delaying removal of undamaged contents increases the likelihood of the insurance company citing negligence and reducing compensation.
  3. File an Insurance Claim Immediately.
  4. Call a professional fire damage restoration company. Fire restoration is not a project to tackle alone.

Should the unthinkable happen and your home suffers a fire damage event, call SERVPRO of Crowley & South Johnson County. Our team will respond quickly with the training and equipment necessary to get you back to “Like it never even happened.”
